Guarding the Safety and Security of Kentuckians. In this course, students will learn how the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet works diligently with different departments to provide security and safety to both the public and those within state custody. The Cabinet is responsible for all state prisons, youth detention centers, state police, law enforcement training, the office of the state medical examiner and the office of drug control policy, and houses the Department of Public Advocacy. In addition, the Cabinet distributes over $120 million in grant funding to non-profit organizations and state agencies across the Commonwealth.
