This course will follow the state of Kentucky as it moved
through five distinctive historical periods, and its people as they
confronted the great issues of each era. We will consider
how Kentuckians have understood and/or contributed to such
things as the meaning of land ownership, the definition of
family and work, individual liberty and community parameters,
religious doctrine and practice, education, American arts, race
relations, and party politics. Class members will be encouraged
to contribute their own thoughts and participate in
discussions.
