The Declaration of Independence is one of our founding
documents. It lists the founders’ reasons for separating from
Britain and their vision for the new nation. To sign it was
potentially signing your own death warrant. Yet fifty-six men
chose to do so. They pledged their lives, their fortunes and
their honor. And some of them paid in full. This class will
explore the lives of those fifty-six men and what that signature
cost them.
