The issues of the American Revolution came with the first
European settlers to the New World. But the events between
1764 and 1774 lead steadily to war long before the battles at
Lexington and Concord. This class revisits the events and
the people of that turbulent period. Growing hostility, trade
problems and misunderstandings resulted in harsh laws and
troops arriving in Boston. Revolutionaries like James Otis
and Sam Adams scared as many people as they inspired. The
colonists began to take sides. Some became our Founding
Fathers and Mothers. Others remained true to Great Britain
and faded from history in exile or disgrace.
